Trip Dates

North Island

  • 21.11.2012 – local time & date: Arrival in Auckland
  • During our 5-days-Auckland stay: Waiheke and Great Barrier Island (Of course we won’t miss those!)
  • 26.11.2012 – Departure to Northland trip. Destinations and stop overs: Warkworth, Wellsford, Whangarei, Poor Knights, Kerikeri, Cape Reinga, Ninety Mile Beach, Whaipoua Kauri forest, etc. There’s our hitchhiking experience trial! We’ll see where our footsteps (or kind Kiwi’s that give us a lift) will carry us to… ;)
  • 03.12.2012 – 07.12.2012: PADI Open Water Course @ Paihia Dive School!!
  • 10.12.2012 – Back to Auckland. Now its our home for the next three months that has to be acquired! Let’s see what we can buy for our money.. (maybe just a small van?)
  • 13.12.2012 – Driving off to Hamilton and the surrounding region. Highway One will be the one! :)
  • 15.12.2012 – It’s Coromandel Peninsula‘s turn to be explored. This must be fab’. Can’t wait!!!
  • 18.12.2012 – Tauranga and the beachy side of life. Just let us relax a bit from the nearly unbearable effort of travelling. Oh, and maybe we’re up to some surfing or snorkeling!
  • 20.12.2012 – The unique smell of rotten eggs will lead us to Rotorua and Maori culture. Hopefully we’ll get a good bite of Hangi foods! The museum must be stunning.
  • 24.12.2012 – Christmas at Whakatane. Well, its not exactly SUCH a X-mas feeling like the according snow-white event in Switzerland.. but we’ll do what we can! And one thing is 100 percent sure: This day will be filled with some melancholy and longing for… yeah, for you! But still: its our trip. Our wish. And our DREAM. So don’t be sad but send us some Christmas cards and a good deal of home-made bisquits, and we’ll get over it. (Presents are welcome too ;D)
  • 26.12.2012 – Gisborne. The East coast of Northern Island should be loaded with Maori’s. Guess we’ll find out pretty soon if that is only a legend or a true story!
  • 27.12.2012 – Mahia Peninsula and Wairoa
  • 28.12.2012 – Back up to Lake Taupo and the Huka Falls. Somewhere in between we’ll be surprised to hear that a big part of our gap year (at least the one with the numbers 2-0-1-2) will be finished soon enough. Gonna be a marvelous evening, I’m pretty sure! If you have time, you may as well raise a glass to us and send your good wishes!
  • Beginning of january: Waitomo Caves, surfer’s town Raglan and West coast. Big deal!
  • 04.01.2012 – New Plymouth
  • 05.01.2012 – Mount Egmont. Maybe we’ll be able to climb it. Good fitness required.
  • 07.01.2012 – Wanganui and Palmerston North.
  • 08.01.2012 – Wellington – finally! Sure as hell that this is going to be a great time, too! And I bet 1000 francs that we’ll meet some fellow travellers here. I think we’ve earned a good old pub’s tour by then. But there’s plenty of things to explore in this fascinating city, so no sleeping-ins! :)
  • 11.01.2012 – Ferry to Picton.  Centre of the world, we’re coming!
